Event assembles Civil War interest groups
"Hammer in 2016: A Gathering of Blacksmiths" will be a new entertainment event offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 4 in Newtonia, celebrating the ancient craft.

In addition, representatives from the George Washington Carver National Monument, Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, Pea Ridge National Battlefield, Eastern Shawnee Tribe and Civil War Roundtable of the Ozarks will offer information about their organizations and related tourism opportunities.
Local authors will have beens and stories to share at the Ritchey Mansion, which will be open for tours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A quilt show will be held nearby at the Newtonia Community Center, where food concessions will be available.
