Upcoming activities at the Monett Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library include an adult coloring get-together is slated for 2 p.m. on Jan. 7. Joetta Johnston will lead a crafts class, "Making Angels from Christmas Cards and Snowmen" at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. The library is located at Sixth and Bond streets.
The SilverTeens seniors singles group will meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 7 for supper at Hapy House restaurant, Highway 60 in Monett.
The Monett Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch and Learn for Chamber members from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the community meeting room at 200 E. Broadway. Representatives from Missouri Southern State University will help lead a session on getting a business online. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to the meeting.
The Aurora Rotary Club will hold its 19th annual chili supper from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at the high school cafeteria at 305 W. Prospect, the same night as Aurora's homecoming festivities. Cost will be $5 for all you can eat, plus beverage and dessert. Proceeds will benefit college scholarships, the Choice Program and Aurora beautification efforts. A Spuds and Bingo benefit for St. Mary's Catholic Church and School in Pierce City will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16 in the school gym. A baked potato dinner will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m., and bingo from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Concessions including hot dogs will also be available. Dinner sales will benefit the St. Mary's Parish Council of Catholic Women. Bingo and concessions will support the St. Mary's School technology fund.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will have Highway T in Lawrence County closed from Highway 14 to Farm Road 2130, west of Billings on Jan. 6 to replace a deteriorating drain pipe under the road.
The Monett Lions Club has extended an open invitation for a Community Friendship Night at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Family Room Restaurant, First Street and East Broadway in Monett. The purpose of this meeting is to answer the question, "Who Are the Monett Lions, Anyway?" The 92nd annual Lawrence County Soils and Crops Conference will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the University of Missouri's Southwest Research Center near Mt. Vernon.
The Southern Missouri Beekeepers will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett. The beginner's classes include Leon Riggs on srping preparation and Steve Ostertag on top bar hives. A DVD on beekeeper training will be shown. A pot luck dinner will start the evening. Aurora Eagles Lodge No. 3948 will hold a spaghetti dinner and benefit auction on Jan. 10. Proceeds will benefit Frank Freeman, who suffers from heart problems. Dinner will be $5 a plate. The annual Dining for Diabetes fundraiser has been scheduled for Jan. 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Cost will be $25 per person. A silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Contests in cycling, limbo, jump rope and hula hoop are planned.
The Youngberg Chapel on Farm Road 1150 near Verona will host a gospel sing at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 8. Free refreshments will be available.
