Cubs head back to the mat
Monett returns to wrestling after long break
The Monett wrestling team returns to the mat on Thursday after an almost three-week layoff, as the Cubs welcome Republic and McDonald County to the high school gym.
"Right now, we are as healthy as we have been all year," said Daryl Bradley, Monett coach. "We took some time off to heal and allow our guys to get certified in weight classes. I feel like we are ready to roll."
The Cubs face two solid teams on Thursday and then host the 10-team Monett Invitational on Saturday.
According to Bradley, Monett will be tested in the 113, 120, 145 and heavyweight divisions on Thursday.
"Right now, I want to see us just come out and knock some of the rust off," Bradley said. "If we compete hard and wrestle to our capabilities, I can live with the results."
Matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
