Monett pair injured in wreck

Vehicle runs stop sign, causes wreck near Pierce City

Two Monett residents were injured Friday in a wreck at 5 p.m. on Farm Road 1050, two miles north of Pierce City.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Derrick Fly, 30, of Monett, was driving a 1997 Hyundai Elantra southbound when his vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, being driven by Charles Hyde, 67, of Pierce City.

Fly suffered minor injuries, and a passenger in his vehicle, James Riley, 32, of Monett, suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital. Hyde was not injured. All involved were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.
