Less fortunate school children in the Monett area will receive school supplies thanks to the 'Stuff the Bus' project, hosted by EFCO Corporation, 3D Corporate Solutions, Cox Monett Hospital and SRC Automotive Friday, Aug. 7 and Saturday, Aug. 8, with the goal of collecting a "bus load" of supplies.

The goal was to literally stuff a school bus, floor to ceiling and front to back, with school supplies for children in need who attend Monett area schools.

Collected items included: 15,432 crayons, 1,193 folders, 250 notebooks, 182 glue sticks, 16,010 sheets of paper, 952 pencils, 190 markers, 2,091 colored pencils, 12 backpacks, 363 erasers, 48 binders, 150 pairs of scissors and over 2,000 other supplies.

Representatives from the project appreciate all those who contributed to the event and for giving area children the best start to the school year. The supplies were distributed to schools on Monday, Aug. 10.
