William "Bill" Overall, 68, of Monett, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bill was born on December 16, 1946, in Spokane, Wash., the son of the late Donald Junior and Pauline Lodema (Rasler) Overall. Bill graduated from Victorville High School in Victorville, Calif., with the class of 1965. In his younger working years, Bill worked with the Laborers Union working in construction in California, Oregon and Washington. He then began a twenty-five year career with Yellow Freight, retiring from the St. Louis terminal. Bill was a member of the Monett Lion's Club and the Barry-Lawrence County Development Center. He attended the New Hope Baptist Church in Exeter.
On October 14, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nev., Bill and Helen McCall were united in marriage. To this union, two children were born. Helen preceded Bill in death in 1991. Bill later met Linnette Martin and they were united in marriage on August 27, 2005, in Eureka Springs, Ark. Bill is survived by his wife, Linnette, of the home; one son, William "Bill" Overall, and wife Natalie, of Hillsboro; one sister, Susan Conaway, and husband Randy, of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Evelyn and Kingston Overall and Devon Overall and Desmon Bradford; two sisters-in-law, Penny Baker and family, of McPherson, Kan., and Michelle Swearingen and family, of the home; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Martin, of the home; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Overall; his sister, Sarah Overall; and a nephew, Christopher Conaway.
Funeral services for Mr. Overall will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Stults will be officiating. Interment will be at Summit Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Barry-Lawrence County Development Center or New Hope Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
