Festival of Lights draws visitors to Monett's South Park

Friday, December 5, 2014

Monettans and many out-of-town visitors are making their way to Monett's South Park to view the 11th annual Festival of Lights, provided by the Monett Chamber of Commerce. On duty as elves counting cars, accepting donations and distributing candy canes to visitors on Wednesday night, were Deanna Vincent, right middle, and the Lynn family, including Emilie Lynn, back, and daughters Olivia, Zoey and Eleas, with the car counter at right. They volunteered to help promote the second annual Monett Alternative Gift Fair, to be held Saturday at the Monett Area YMCA. Visiting the Festival of Lights in the car were Chet and Charlene Steffin, driver, and Peggy and Eugene Giffin. The elves tracked 60 vehicles coming through the lighting display in the first 90 minutes of their shift on Wednesday. The Festival of Lights will be open through Dec. 31.
