Purdy resident injured in icy wreck

Icy road leads to wreck on Highway 37

A Purdy resident was injured Monday morning on Highway 37, two miles north of Pierce City.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Judith Hemphill, 70, of Purdy, was driving a 2005 Scion Coupe at about 9:36 a.m. when the vehicle lost control on the ice-covered roadway, traveled off the roadway and overturned.

Hemphill, who was wearing a safety device, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. The vehicle suffered extensive damage.
