Dodge City -- Betty A. Lovell, 74, died Oct. 17 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kan.
She was born Nov. 3, 1939, in Monett, the daughter of Paul and Frances Rockman Gates.
Betty was raised in Monett, graduating from Monett High School. She married Louis James "Jim" Lovell on Dec. 14, 1957. They moved to Garden City, Kan. in 1962 and then to Dodge City, Kan. in 1966, where she remained until her death. She worked in a cafeteria for USD 433, retiring after 15 years with the district. She also worked for Curtis Machine Company. Betty enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by four sons: Mike Lovell, of Stranton, Nebr.; Tim Lovell of Great Bend, Kan.; Terry Lovell, of Topeka, Kan.; and Robbie Lovell and his wife, Trina, of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Brenda Blea and her husband, Theodore, of Dodge City, Kan.; and Penny Blea and her husband, William, of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Barbara Gates, of Monett; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim, and two sons, Larry and Steven J. Lovell.
Services were held Oct. 20 at Dodge City, Kan.
