Shirley Jane Mourglia, 86, of Monett, MO, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, while at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Shirley was born in Monett on January 20, 1928, daughter of Amos Albert McCormick and Eula Martha (Henderson) McCormick. Shirley graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1944. In 1947, Shirley moved to Seattle, WA, where she had worked as a secretary for Southwestern Bell. In 1994, she moved back to Monett to be closer to her siblings. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Monett and was active for many years with the Monett Senior Center.
Shirley is survived by one son, Michael Mourglia, of Mesa, AZ; two daughters, Janet Swerdlow, of St. Joseph, MI and Karen Madsen, of Augusta, ME; two brothers, Lee McCormick, of Monett and Bob McCormick, of Monett; two sisters, Mamie Lou Lane, of Monett and Charlotte Hunt, of Grove, OK; three grandchildren, Eli Madsen and Zachary and Jonathan Swerdlow; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Albert William McCormick.
Services will be held at a later date at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Dr. Bill Cox will be officiating. At Shirley's request, she has been taken for cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
