Marionville woman killed in crash

A Marionville woman is dead and a Republic woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Christian County that the Highway Patrol is blaming on wet weather conditions.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the crash happened at 5:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 60 south of Rosehill Road. A 2009 Honda CLX, driven by Monica Jenkins, 25, of Republic, was traveling eastbound when the car hydroplaned into the westbound lane.

Jill Medlin, 55, of Marionville, was driving a 1995 Ford F150 westbound, which was struck head-on by Jenkins' vehicle.

Both drivers were transported by Cox EMS to Cox South Hospital in Springfield where Jenkins was admitted with serious injuries. Medlin was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:57 p.m. by Christian County Coroner Brad Cole.

Highway Patrol officers at the scene were assisted by the Billings police and fire departments

According to the Highway Patrol, this is Troop D's 37th fatality of 2014. Troop D serves 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry and Lawrence counties.
