Industrial Machine and Engineering Company (IMEC) was the recipient of the 2014 Small Business of the Year Award, presented by the Monett Chamber of Commerce.

IMEC began in 1982. According to presenter John Bruner, the business has experienced steady growth, including the addition of 12 new full-times jobs over the last 18 months.

"Their sales continue to climb with a 14 percent increase in the last year and an astounding 60 percent growth over the last five years," Bruner said.

Employees of IMEC maintain active involvement in the Monett Jaycees, Kiwanis, PEO and the Chamber. IMEC has provided financial support to the Monett Area YMCA, the Fourth of July celebration and others.

"The business Dan and Charlotte Conner started 32 years ago is a proud member of this community and very deserving of this award," Bruner said. "A family business from the start, they are committed to creating a safe, healthy and prosperous community for their children and grandchildren."
