Thursday, January 9, 2014 ~ Updated 1:27 PM

One man in in jail and law enforcement officials are seeking his brother in connection with a kidnapping incident that originated in McDonald County on Friday.

Matthew Jeffrey Miller, 21, of Eagle Rock was arrested in Barry County and charged with the felonies of kidnapping, burglary and tampering with a motor vehicle in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a rural Washburn woman.

According to Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly, the woman was kidnapped from her home on Trent Road in McDonald County. Two men broke into her house at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, threw her on the floor and demanded money, drugs and her car.

"They threw her into the trunk of her vehicle and drove to Cassville, where they used her bank card to withdraw $350 from her Arvest bank account," Epperly said.

Eventually the woman was dumped on Farm Road 1180, in rural Barry County.

"They kicked her and beat on her a bit and then rolled her down a hill," Epperly said. "She had no shoes, but managed to make it to the nearest inhabited residence and notify the sheriff's office."

Charges are also pending against Miller's brother, Michael Jeffrey Miller, 27, also of Eagle Rock. He faces felony charges of kidnapping, burglary and tampering with a motor vehicle, Epperly said.

"We believe Michael Miller may be on the run and trying to get to Pennsylvania, along with his girlfriend, " Epperly said. "We are still looking for him in the area, but we think he might have fled the state."

Michael Miller is also wanted on unrelated charges of burglary earlier this month at a home east of Cassville.

Law enforcement officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for a white panel van bearing Pennsylvania license plates that may have been involved in the crime. If located, residents are asked to call their local law enforcement agency to report its location.

Matthew Miller remains in custody at the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond on the charges originating inMcDonald County. Charges are pending in Barry County.
