Five injured in recent wrecks

A Mt. Vernon woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:13 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 76 about five miles east of Cassville.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2008 Ford F 150, driven by Knowland K. Burbridge, 47, of Cassville, crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Pontiac G6, driven y Lisa J. Fare, 40, of Mt. Vernon, head-on.

Fare was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Easton N. Fare, 8, of Mt. Vernon, was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with minor injuries.

All parties involved were wearing seat belts.

Other crashes

* Two Green Forest, Ark., residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash at 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23 on Highway 86 about two miles east of Golden. The crash occurred when the driver of a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, Alexander A. Jackson, 22, of Green Forest, Ark., ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Jackson and a passenger in the vehicle, Kendra A. Jackson, 25, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Berryville, Ark., with minor injuries.

* Garrett L. Brixey, 21, of Marshfield, was injured in a single-vehicle crash at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, on Highway 14 about four miles north of Marionville. The crash occurred Brixey, driving a 1997 GMC Sierra, failed to negotiate a corner and ran off the road, striking a culvert and a road sign. Brixey was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora for treatment of minor injuries. It is not known if Brixey was wearing a seat belt.
