The Pierce City Lady Eagles volleyball team opened the 2013-14 season with a win over Crane on Sept. 3.
"The girls did good tonight for our first game," said Pierce City coach Allison Davis. "We had some minor issues that we were able to resolve in the second and third games. The girls definitely played with heart and pulled out the win."
Crane (0-1) came out strong and stole the first set from the Green and White 25-22.
Pierce City (1-0) recovered and dominated the second and third sets, winning 25-16 and 25-18 to take the match 2-1.
The Lady Eagles were led by Christine Younker with five blocks and four aces. Amber Wagner added 13 kills. Jenny Kaiser collects 19 assists and Maddy Flummerfelt finished with 19 digs.
Pierce City travels to Sarcoxie tonight (Thursday). Matches are set to begin at 5 p.m.
