Steve Hess and Southern Salvation will perform at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Monett. Admission is free and a love offering will be taken during the event.

The Barry County Retired School personnel will have its Back to School breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 at the St. John's Lutheran Church, north of Monett on Highway H. The program will be on "Food for Thought Backpack Program." The business meeting will follow. Those attending are asked to bring pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The meeting is open to the public.

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at St. John's Lutheran Church, located at 23237 Highway H in Monett.

Roaring River State Park will host its annual fall Kids' Fishing Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. A host of activities are planned. Young anglers will have the opportunity to catch fish and learn about fishing at the park. Children 15 years of age and younger will be able to pick up free trout tags at the hatchery office any time on Friday, Aug. 16 or all day on Saturday. Cox Monett Hospital is seeking volunteer members that can commit to two years of monthly meetings to share ideas and strategies to elevate the quality of every encounter. Current or former patients, perspective patients or patient family members with a willingness to work in an advisory role are eligible to participate. The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Hot Diggety Dog Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Seligman Chamber Event Center, on north Highway 37. There will be free hot dogs provided by the Chamber. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish. Admission is $4 and teenagers are free. No alcohol or smoking is allowed. The Pierce City Senior Center will host a country breakfast fundraiser from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, during Howdy Neighbor Days. The menu will consist of bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, juice, milk and coffee. The cost for adults is $5.50, ages 5 through 10 is $3.50 and children under 4 are free. Carryouts are $4.50. The center is located at 104 N. Locust.
