Five arrested on drug charges

Four Monettans and an Aurora man were arrested on drug charges by the Barry County Sheriff's Department on July 16.

According to Sheriff Mick Epperly, the five subjects have been under investigation for more than a year. The arrest followed purchases of marijuana, methamphetamines and controlled pharmaceuticals by an undercover Missouri State Highway Patrol officer.

Arrested were: Jared Utter, 32, Orville Miller, 26, Devin Rust, 19, and Casey Myers, 31, all of Monett, and Kevin Sojak, 27, of Aurora. They were each charged with Class B felony distribution of a controlled substance.

Epperly said more arrests are expected.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Barry County Sheriff's Department the Monett Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force.
