Angus Branch Steakhouse now open

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Owners of Angus Branch Steakhouse, formerly Grant's Restaurant in Monett, have done more than change their colors and logo, Fred Grant and his daughter, Megan Golubski, have revamped the menu and made significant changes in what the eatery now offers customers.

"We wanted to cater to a younger, family-oriented crowd," Golubski said. "We're open later and staying busy."

Other changes include updated interior décor, freshly painted walls featuring bold colors and uniforms in the new red and black signature colors worn by the wait staff.

"My dad is going to retire one of these days," Golubski said. "We decided to change the brand, design the steakhouse and turn the restaurant into something I want it to be.

"So far the response has been good," she continued. "People are saying they are happy to see a good steakhouse in Monett and not have to drive all the way to Springfield."

Menu selections now offer signature steaks, prime rib, more pasta and a variety of seafood selections. There are also adult beverages offered, including beer, margaritas, specialty cocktails and liquor.

For the lighter appetite, there are burgers sandwiches, soups and salads.

"Two of our popular burgers are the Angus burger and the arm jerker BBQ burger," Golubski said. "Our grilled salmon is also very popular, as well as our signature sirloin.

"We still have some of the old favorites on the menu," Golubski said. "But we are also starting to upscale our evening entrees and the buffet is now only available during the lunch service."

Daily specials are offered and on Tuesdays, the restaurant offers all you can eat ribs. Sauces and seasonings include dry rub, regular barbecue sauce, a spicy sauce and a Caribbean sauce.

"That's a very popular night," Golubski said.

Topping off the meal is a selection of desserts that include cheesecake, bread pudding, cast iron blackberry cobbler and fruit cocktail cake.

"Our kids' menu even offers steak," Golubski said. "That's very popular with the kids."

No novices to the restaurant industry, Grant has owned restaurants for 28 years, operating Grant's Restaurants in Marionville and Monett before closing the Marionville location. Golubski has "grown up" in the industry.

"My dad oversees the management of the restaurant and he is still teaching me about the business," Golubski said. "But now we're seeing a different clientele and they're staying later into the evening."

Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The business offers catering for events. There are two meeting rooms available at the restaurant, along with four flat-screen televisions so diners can keep up with current events and sports.
