New director hired for Scott Tech Center

Monett R-1 School Board members filled several administrative and teaching positions during a special session on April 11.

David Miller, who is completing his second year as assistant principal at Monett High School, was named as the new director of the Scott Regional Technology Center, succeeding Russ Moreland.

"This is a good move for him and us," said Superintendent Brad Hanson. "We hope David will provide stability for the program. He will be our fifth director in six years."

Resignations were accepted from Lieutenant Colonel Maella Blalock and Monett High School math teacher Amy Dickson. Blalock has been the ranking officer in the JROTC program at Scott Tech for the past six years and will move to the JROTC program in the Clinton School District.

Josh Graves was hired as the high school boys basketball coach, coming to Monett from the Humansville district. His teaching assignment has not been determined.

April McCullough was hired as the new choir director for the middle and high schools. She has taught elementary and middle school choir in Marionville for the past two years.

Susan Childress will return to teaching in Monett, leading the middle school and high school family and consumer science program. An elementary teacher in Monett from 1993 to 1995, Childress returns after spending several years raising a family.

Terri Lovelis was hired as a teacher at Monett Elementary. She taught for the past 13 years at the Stonewall, Okla. District.

Lindsay Schumacher as hired as a special education teacher at Central Park Elementary. She will graduate from Missouri State University in May.
