Carthage- Joplin Regional Stockyards: Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 04/15/13

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Receipts: 7365 Last Week: 10,082 Year Ago: 4130

Compared to last week, all weights and classes of feeder and stocker
cattle sold 4.00-6.00 lower. There were some instances as much as 10.00
lower, mostly on heifers and more specifically on those weighing from 550-750
lbs. Most commodity markets were sharply lower on Monday with global economy
and violence fears swirling. Cool and cloudy weather continues to prevail
across the lower Midwest causing grass growth and corn planting to fall
behind schedule. Supplies were fairly heavy again for this time of year,
following last week's big run, as cattle continue to come out of the
woodwork. Receipts included 47 percent steers, 44 percent heifers, and 9
percent feeder bulls. Near 51 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
