Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 04/05/2013

Friday, April 5, 2013

The hay market is quiet as everyone has spring work to focus on.
Plenty of moisture around the state and warm temperatures headed our
way has everyone on edge knowing Spring is ready to burst wide open.
Farmers are chomping at the bit as they wait for fields to firm up and
grass to turn green. A year ago this report was filled with talk of
planted corn, cut alfalfa, and lush pastures; given the way last summer
treated Missouri the slower pace is hopefully a good sign. Hay supply is
light, demand is light and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of
Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
To be listed, or for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/
or for current listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices
