A "sweetheart dance" is planned for 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, at the Monett Senior Center, 405 Dairy St. The Fun Timers Band will provide music. Participants are encouraged to bring potluck or finger food. Admission is $3.

The Chatty Crafters will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the First Christian Church in Purdy. New participants are welcome and encouraged to bring their own projects. For more information, call 417-498-2202.

The 12th annual Christopher Foundation Gospel Celebration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the First Baptist Church, 12325 E. Highway 86 in Neosho. A chili/hot dog supper will begin at 5 p.m., followed by singing at 5:30 p.m. Music will feature the Old Friends Quartet, Corky Long, Shepherd's Own and the FBC Neosho Group. An "E-Reader Class" will be held at the Monett Branch Library, 213 Sixth St., at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31. This is an opportunity for those with E-Reader devices to learn helpful tips on using them. For more information, call the library at 417-235-6646.

Members of the Monett Rural Fire Association are encouraged to put the new white sticker for 2013 membership on their membership signs. The sticker should cover the blue stickers for 2012.

An enchilada dinner benefitting Melody Brink and her journey with cancer will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the First Free Will Bpatist Church, located at Central and Sycamore in Monett. Donations will be accepted to provide assistance with travel expenses for treatments in Houston, Texas. For more information, contact Christy Spain at 417-669-2748.

Dues for 2013 for the Pierce City Sportsmen's Club should be submitted now. Dues can be paid at First State Bank in Pierce City or Ken's Barbershop at 207 E. Broadway in Monett. Anyone using the club's shooting range must have a paid membership for liability and vandalism coverage.

The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N will holds its regularly schedculed executive board meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Alice Irene's Restaurant in Marionville. The public is welcome.

The Lawrence County Health Department will hold food service training workshops from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Feb., 1 and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, at the department office, 105 W, North St. in Mt. Vernon. Cost is $10 per participant. Call 417-466-2201 to enroll. Beginning Jan. 1, establishments will receive critical violations for any employee who does not have a food ID card.

Renewal notices for members of the Pierce City Rural Fire Department have been mailed. Checks should be mailed by Jan. 31 to PCRFD, PO Box 134, Pierce City Mo. 65723. Cancellation notices will be sent on Feb. 10.

Live music at the McDowell Jubilee will return on Saturday, Feb. 2. The open mike session starts at 6:30 p.m. Performers of all kinds are welcome. The Jubilee hall is located six miles south of Highway Z in Pleasant Ridge, off Highway VV, then follow the signs.

Preschool and kindergarten screenings will be held at Monett Elementary School on Feb. 5 and on March 5 and 12. The team will check motor skills, speech and language skills, concept development, vision and hearing. Screenings are free and take approximately one hour. Parents receive a summary of results. Bring the child's birth certificate and immunization records. Call 235-3411 for an appointment.

More than 30 regional authors and 10 speakers from Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas will participate in the first Authors Book Signing Day at the Kimberling Area Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.
