The Pierce City Eagles basketball team is starting to fly high. The Eagles (11-9, 4-1) earned their third straight victory with a 53-37 decision over Greenfield on Jan. 29.
The green and white got off to a slow start and trailed 10-6 after one quarter of play.
Pierce City rebounded and used a 18-8 scoring spurt in the second period to send the game into halftime tied 24-24.
The second half was a completely different story.
The Eagle dominated on both ends of the floor, holding the Wildcats to 13 total second half points.
"I thought we played our best defense of the year in the second half," said Pierce City coach Matt Street. "We never let them get settled into their offense. We feel that we are starting to get hot at the right time."
Pierce City won the third period 14-4 and triumphed in the fourth quarter 15-9.

Pierce City hosts Lockwood on Feb. 1. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
