A problem with a switch in the Aurora train yard apparently contributed to the derailment of an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad locomotive shortly before 1 p.m. on Jan. 23.

According to a captain for the Aurora Fire Department, firefighters responded and determined the locomotive had not leaked any diesel fuel.

Crews for Burlington Northern arrived shortly, stabilized and moved the locomotive in less than an hour, then turned to making track repairs.

Traffic was blocked across Madison and Elliott streets while repairs were made.
