Woods' heroics could not match the Southwest attack. Josh Cutberth played his best game of the season, leading the Trojans with 23 points. Jordan Epling and Drew Farrer also reached double figures, scoring 17 and 10 respectively.
James Pettit reeled off 7 points in the opening quarter as Southwest took a 19-12 lead, and then bumped the margin to 10 with a thundering dunk at the 6:16 mark of the second quarter. The Trojans led by as many as 12 in that period, but Monett finished with an 11-3 run and only trailed 30-26 at half.
The visitors won the third period 22-10 and held a commanding 52-38 lead at the final break.
The Cubs, who had pulled within 5 points in the third quarter before fading, had no answer in the last eight minutes.
Woods scored after a steal at half court to get the lead down to 57-46, but Monett could not get within single digits. Blake Barnes and Farrer sank free throws down the stretch, and Cutberth broke loose for an uncontested layup to create the final score of 63-46.
Monett scorers: Woods, 30 points; Chad Swanson, 4; Zach Hammond and Caleb Blue, 3 each; and Jake Schmidly, Quincy Jackson, and Aaron Patton, 2 apiece.
Southwest scorers: Cutberth, 23 points; Epling, 17; Farrer, 10; Pettit, 9; and Blake Barnes, 4.
