The Pierce City Lady Eagles volleyball team had eight players named to the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association (MHSVCA) Academic All-State team.

Jenny Kaiser, Brianna Zebert, Amber Wagner, Krishna Merriman, Christine Younker, Becca Hatfield, Courtney Zebert and Laney Parrigon were named to the team from Pierce City.

"These are a great group of girls that worked hard not only on the floor, but in the classroom as well," said Pierce City coach Allison Davis.

The MHSVCA recognizes student athletes and teams for their academic success in the classroom by awarding an Academic All-State award to both teams and individual student athletes.

A team is awarded the distinction of an Academic All-State squad if all players on the varsity squad have a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher through the school's first semester.

An individual athlete qualifies for the Academic All-State if they have a cumulative grade point average after the fall semester of 3.88 to 4.0. The athlete must have competed in 75 percent of the team's total varsity matches.
