The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, located on Highway Z.

The Barry County Geneaological and Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at the Barry County Museum, located on Highway 112 on the south side of Cassville. President Buddy Hart will lead the regular business meeting. Input from members on activities for 2013 is welcome. Following the meating, there will be a tour of the Bayless House.

The Mt. Pleasant Benefit Special Road District commissioners will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Freistatt Fire Station.

Community members interested in the new performing arts center at Monett High School are welcome to attend a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in room 150 at Monett High School. Please call the central office at 235-7422 to make arrangements.

The Ladies Auxiliary for Tom Wolfe Memorial VFW Post #4207 will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The menu includes: meat loaf, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, green beans, bread, salad, dessert and beverage for $6.

An open house will be held at Cox Monett Rehab and Sports Medicine, located at 700 E. Cleveland Ave. in Monett, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, for the new HydroWorx aquatic therapy pool. The public is invited to tour the training facility, meet the therapists and trainers and check out the training equipment. Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded. A spaghetti dinner will be offered by Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 17 at 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Carry-outs are available. Proceeds support Legion youth programs.

John Jacobs and his Next Generation Power Force Team, which has appeared in crusades in 40 countries and appeared on TV with Chuck Norris, will be at the Body of Christ Outreach Ministries in Wheaton at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and for services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 20. A reception for Tony Simmons, the new superintendent for the Verona R-7 School District, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the school cafeteria. Refreshments will be served. Simmons begins in the 2013-14 school year.

Eagle watching is planning for Saturday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 16 at Roaring River State Park near Cassville.

The Rebel's Bluff Troupe will present the play "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center (The Marc). Performances will be held on Feb. 8, 9 and 10. The show will be presented in a dinner theater format. Reservations will be placed with Logan Electronics by calling 417-466-7861.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend its annual appreciation banquet on Jan. 26 at Aurora High School. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The awards presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. The Missouri State University BearTones will provide entertainment.
