The Ozark 7 Music Day will be held on the Purdy High School Campus on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Approximately 175 choir students and 110 band students from area schools will rehearse together in the morning and perform a special concert in the high school gym. The public is welcome to attend the concert at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. Schools participating in the event include Purdy, Exeter, Southwest, Thomas Jefferson, Verona and Wheaton high schools.

A reception for Tony Simmons, the new superintendent for the Verona R-7 School District, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the school cafeteria. Refreshments will be served. Simmons begins in the 2013-14 school year.

Community members interested in the new performing arts center at Monett High School are welcome to attend a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in room 150 at Monett High School. Please call the central office at 235-7422 to make arrangements.

The Monett Special Road District commissioners have moved their monthly meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m. at Monett City Hall.

St. John's Lutheran Church has established a benefit account at Community National Bank of Monett/Aurora for Chloe Fellwock, daughter of Mark and Johna Fellwock.

The Rebel's Bluff Troupe will present the play "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center (The Marc). Performances will be held on Feb. 8, 9 and 10. The show will be presented in a dinner theater format. Reservations will be placed with Logan Electronics by calling 417-466-7861.

The 642nd Lawrence County Gospel Sing will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Nazarene Church, located at 503 Necessity in Marionville. Singers and musicians are welcome.

Budget hearings for county governments have been scheduled. The Lawrence County hearing will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 in the courtroom of the historical courthouse in Mt. Vernon. The Barry County hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 in the commissioners room in the historic courthouse in Cassville.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend its annual appreciation banquet on Jan. 26 at Aurora High School. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The awards presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. The Missouri State University BearTones will provide entertainment. The Aurora Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the private dining room at Mercy Hospital-Aurora, 500 S. Porter. For more information, call Coralu at 417-678-3580 or Marilyn at 417-678-2666.

The Barry County Republican Club will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 22 at the Barry County Museum in Cassville. Presiding Commissioner Cherry Warren will present information on the Barry County 2013 upcoming budget and other issues. A catered meal will be provided by the BBQ Station in Cassville. Barbara White, president, invites all Republicans to attend.

Eagle watching is planning for Saturday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 16 at Roaring River State Park near Cassville.
