Dr. John Jungmann, former superintendent, initiated Cub Pride in the fall of 2008. Since its inception, Cub Pride has been emailed to subscribers each Friday during the school year. We currently have over 335 Monett R-1 patrons who receive these emails on a weekly basis.
"Why change?" We are constantly reviewing each of our programs in an effort to identify things that may help us improve our services and make things more effective, efficient and enjoyable. Monett R-1 School District is also a leader in southwest Missouri in terms of technology integration; therefore, our goal is to produce a digital newsletter that meets the needs of our school community.
Finally, to put things simply, we want to expand our readership! To accomplish this, we need to strive to make our news highly accessible and relevant to our readers.
The first difference you will notice is that the previews of all articles within the newsletter are embedded directly within the actual format of the email. Now, as you open your Cub Pride email each week, you will be able to see the title of the article and a few lines of text that are designed to pique your interest and/or to inform you of what that specific article is about.
As a reader, you should be able to make a quicker decision as to whether the article is of interest to you. Should you decide to read further, simply clicking on the link that is provided takes you to the full text version of the article. We hope that this change will expedite the process of accessing information within the newsletter.
In the past, Cub Pride was formatted as a hardcopy newsletter. You will not find this within the new format. Once you click on a link to read more of an article, you will be directed to various places within the school district website.
For instance, if the superintendent or assistant superintendent has written the article, you will be directed to either his respective welcome page on the website or the district "home" page on the website. In a similar fashion, if one of our building level principals has written the article, you will be directed to that school's "home" page.
We believe the district website should be the communication "hub" for our school district, and we hope by tying Cub Pride in a digital format to the district website that we will assist our patrons in becoming more familiar navigating within the website.
We are also making some changes to the content of future issues. You will continue to see articles from the central office (superintendent and assistant superintendent), as well as periodic articles from each of our campuses.
In addition, we will be adding an article each week from the various support programs that are so vital to our school district operations and the success of our students.
For example, we hope that by providing periodic information from our instructional technology department, our school resource officer, the food service department, our athletic directors, our guidance counselors and our health services department, readers will find additional relevant information that may be of interest.
Finally, we have always included upcoming events in the calendar section of Cub Pride. With the new changes, linking to our website will give patrons accessibility to all of our school district calendars.
"How do I subscribe?" If you are currently receiving the weekly Cub Pride emails, you do not need to do anything. We will automatically subscribe you to the new format. If you are interested in becoming a subscriber, you simply need to go to the school district website: monett.schoolfusion.us and click on the link provided (located just below the main header on the right hand side of the district and each building "home" page).
Once you have clicked on the link, you only need to provide your email address to begin receiving the weekly emails.
Our goal is to communicate relevant news each and every week that will provide readers a glimpse of the noteworthy things we have going on within the Monett R-1 School District. We hope that you will take time to subscribe to the new Cub Pride and will find its contents worthy of your time as a reader.
We would also appreciate your comments and suggestions concerning the new format as we move forward into this era of communicating school news. You will find a link at the bottom of each Cub Pride edition to submit feedback.
Thank you in advance for being patient with us as we make these changes within the district newsletter and, more importantly, thank you for your continued support of the Monett R-I School District!
