The Monett Special Road District commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 at Monett City Hall.

The Southern Missouri Beekeepers of Monett will hold their regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central. Steve Ostertag will speak on the Top Bar hive. Robert Sperandio and Leon Riggs will give a talk on the Langstroth hive. Anyone interested in beekeeping is welcome. Community members interested in the new performing arts center at Monett High School are welcome to attend a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in room 150 at Monett High School. Please call the central office at 235-7422 to make arrangements.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend its annual appreciation banquet on Jan. 26 at Aurora High School. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The awards presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. The Missouri State University BearTones will provide entertainment. The Aurora Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the private dining room at Mercy Hospital-Aurora, 500 S. Porter. For more information, call Coralu at 417-678-3580 or Marilyn at 417-678-2666.

The Monett-Purdy Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for house #7. Interested persons may pick up applications from the Monett Chamber of Commerce, located at 200 E. Broadway, from Ron Stair at the First Christian Church, located at 603 Fourth St. in Monett. For more information, call Vicky McGuire at 235-3333.

Renewal notices for members of the Pierce City Rural Fire Department have been mailed. Checks should be mailed by Jan. 31 to PCRFD, PO Box 134, Pierce City Mo. 65723. Cancellation notices will be sent on Feb. 10.

Eagle watching is planning for Saturday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 16 at Roaring River State Park near Cassville.

The Lawrence County Health Department still has flu vaccine available for adults at a cost of $15. Vaccine is available for children from 6 months old to age 18. There is a $10 charge for non-county residents. Vaccines are offered at the department's office at 105 W. North St. in Mt. Vernon. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

Monett Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and at 7 p.m. on Sundays at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 405 Seventh St. For information, call 236-0216.

The 2013 Lawrence County assessment lists will be in the mail the first few days of January. The deadline to have them back in the Assessor's office is March 1.

The Freistatt Village Board meets at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Freistatt Community Center.

Old cell phones can be donated to the Lawrence County victims advocate program. Donations can be dropped off with a charger at the sheriff's office in the Justice Center in Mt. Vernon. For more information, contact Kim Bishop-Jones at 417-466-2131.
