Ticket sales are still available for the 11th annual Dining for Diabetes fundraising dinner, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19 at the National Guard Armory in Pierce City.
Proceeds from the event support the diabetes education program at Cox Monett Hospital. The program assists residents in Barry and Lawrence counties with diabetes who do not have the money to pay for education classes to help them manage their diabetes or the medicine they need to control it.
The 2012 dinner raised approximately $27,000 and was attended by 430 people.
James Franklin, quarterback for the Mizzou Tigers, will be the featured speaker for the "Go Team" sports-themed event.
Doors for the 2013 event will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. The meal will feature a menu of barbecued chicken, baked potato and garden salads, fire roasted vegetables, sugar free apple pie and beverage.
Silent and live auctions will be held featuring a wide range of unique gift baskets and donated products. A drawing for a 50/50 pot will also be an evening highlight.
"Celebrity" waiters and waitresses will serve the meal.
"Your patronage will have a direct impact and will be viewed as a commitment to overall community health," said Nancy Ridgley, wellness coordinator at Cox Monett Hospital.
