A dance will be held at the Cassville Senior Center, located at 1111 Fair St., at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5. The Roaring River Sound band will play. A $4 donation is requested for admission. Finger foods are welcome.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 405 Seventh St. in Monett.

The Missouri National Guard 276th Engineer Company Family Readiness Group will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Pierce City Armory. Anyone who would like to support the Missouri National Guard is welcome.

The local chapter of Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Grant's restaurant, located on Chapell Drive by Walmart in Monett. All veterans are invited. For more information, call 471-271-3835.

The Monett-Purdy Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for house #7. Interested persons may pick up applications from the Monett Chamber of Commerce, located at 200 E. A brainstorming session will be held on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse in Mt. Vernon to discuss cattle thefts in Lawrence County. Sheriff Brad DeLay, Prosecutor Don Trotter, stockyard owners, University Extension and the County Commission will be in attendance.

The Pierce City Senior Citizens Center, located at 104 Locust St., opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. Hot lunch is served at noon. Cost is $4.50 for those under 55 or $3.50 for those over 55. Carry-outs are available and can be ordered before 11 a.m. by calling 476-5006. Line dancing is offered at 9:30 a.m. and arthritis exercise at 10:30 a.m.

Performances at the McDowell Jubilee will resume on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. The open mike shows start at 6:30 p.m. Performances are at the McDowell community center, six miles east of Highway 60 on Highway ZZ to Pleasant Ridge, and south on Highway VV to McDowell.

A coupon book offering more than $200 in discounts from 30 area businesses is available for $20 from the Holy Trinity Catholic Men's Organization in Aurora. Proceeds will be divided between the church and charitable organizations in Monett, Aurora and Mt. Vernon. Books can be ordered from the HTCC Men's Organization, PO Box 533, Aurora MO 65605. The Lawrence County Health Department still has flu vaccine available for adults at a cost of $15. Vaccine is available for children from 6 months old to age 18.
