Looking west up the sledding hill at Monett's South Park for the brief instant snow stayed on the ground on Monday, Dec. 31. A hundred years ago, the hill provided entrance to the cave under the hill, which served as a mine. Sealed around 1918, the entrance has been covered by decades of fill and now provides the best sledding in the area. [Times Photo by Lisa Craft]
