It was a very Merry Christmas for some area residents in need this holiday season. For the sixth year, AmeriCorps Purdy Reading Coaches have volunteered to pack Christmas food baskets at Crosslines in Monett.

Baskets contained non-perishable items including canned fruits, vegetables, meat and soup, boxes of cereal and bottled water.

Recipients also received $25 vouchers from Save-A-Lot for perishable food items such as ham, turkey and milk. Approximately 320 people will benefit from this year's effort.
