The Monett Cubs basketball team rallied from a 37-33 deficit with two minutes left to pull out a 45-39 victory over Reeds Spring on Dec. 18
The Cubs (2-7) got off to a slow start this season. After an extended football schedule, the Cubs have shown glimpses of great potential in their last three contests.
"I thought our defense was very good tonight," said Goetz. "We controlled the boards in the second half and were able to give ourselves a chance on the offensive end by getting second chance points. Everyone contributed tonight. Reeds Spring did a nice job on Kyle (Woods). The rest of the guys did a nice job picking up the slack."
Each team battled to a 12-12 tie at the end of the first break. The Wolves took a 24-22 lead into halftime.
Scoring for Monett: Kyle Woods, 12 points; Sean Rosebaugh, 10; Zach Hammond, 7; Chad Swanson, 5; Caleb Blue, 4; and Elijah George and Aaron Patton, 3 each.
