The Monett Senior Citizens Center, located at 405 Dairy St., will serve its annual Christmas dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The Happy Plunker Ukelele Band, of Springfield, will provide entertainment, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Homes along East and West Crestwood Drive in Monett will have more than 300 luminaries on display on Saturday, Dec. 22. Drive-through viewing will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Crestwood Drive is located on Highway 60, one mile west of Highway 37.

A Christmas eve candlelighting service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, at the Waldensian United Presbyterian Church.

A coupon book offering more than $200 in discounts from 30 area businesses is available for $20 from the Holy Trinity Catholic Men's Organization in Aurora. Proceeds will be divided between the church and charitable organizations in Monett, Aurora and Mt. Vernon. Books can be ordered from the HTCC Men's Organization, PO Box 533, Aurora MO 65605. Journeys, a 20-week weight management program at Cox Monett Hospital, focuses on mental, physical and emotional health, behavior strategies, stress management, nutrition education and fitness programs. Trained professionals, including a licensed professional counselor, dietitian and certified fitness instructors, teach the program. A new session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. A public reception in honor of Frank Washburn, who is retiring as northern commissioner of Barry County, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, at the historic Barry County Courthouse in Cassville, in the commissioners' chambers. Refreshments will be served.

The Monett Fundamental Methodist Church, located at 810 13th St., will perform a Christmas play with members of the church in leading roles at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23. Pastor Ronnie Howerton invites the public to attend.

The monthly dance at the Pierce City Senior Citizens Center will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, featuring the Fun Timers Band. Finger foods are welcome. The center is located at 104 Locust St.

The Eagles Lodge #3948, located at 18896 Farm Road 2185 in Lawrence County, north of Aurora, invites the public to come ring in the new year at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31, with a buffet table, live band and dancing. Call 417-678-1000 for seating prices. Proceeds benefit local charities.

The Monett 911 Advisory Board will meet at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Monett Justice Center training room.

The Verona R-7 Board of Education will hold a special meeting in the search for a new superintendent at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 in the superintendent's office.
