Photos with Santa will be available during the open house at the Monett Rural Fire Association's new fire station, located at 920 E. County Rd. east of the standpipes. The open house will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Pets are welcome. Photos will cost $5 each.

The Monett Historical Society will meet at 410 E. Broadway, formerly the Woods and the J.C. Penney's store, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15. The regular business meeting will follow at the museum, located at 705 E. Broadway. For more information, call Doug Hobson at 235-5908.

Winners of the drawings at the annual Freistatt Community Holiday dinner were as follows: Sandy Voskamp, a turkey; Rose Ortwein, a turkey, which she gave to David and Sue George; Rick Clark, a ham; Chris Jones, a ham; Ed and Jeannie Stoltz, a paid water and sewer bill for January, 2013. In addition, Orville Osterloh won a gift box donated by Harmon Electric. Pete and Grace Doss won a special calendar that was donated.

A Christmas eve candlelighting service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, at the Waldensian United Presbyterian Church.

The Kings Prairie Special Road District commissioners will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Grant's restaurant in Monett.

The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 at the Pleasant Ridge school house, located on Highway Z. For more information, call 236-4690.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at Monett Community Church, located at 2101 E. Cleveland. A $25 Visa gift card will be awarded in a drawing from all participating donors.

The Platters will appear for a New Year's eve concert at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the community building on the Crowder College campus in Cassville. Tickets are available at the Rise and Shine and the Soda Fountain in Cassville and at the Red Barn in Mt. Vernon.

Homes along East and West Crestwood Drive in Monett will have more than 300 luminaries on display on Saturday, Dec. 22, available for drive-through viewing from 5 to 9 p.m. Crestwood is located west of Highway 37, one mile south of Highway 60.

Chad Bennett, pastor at the Monett Community Church, will present a Christmas message at the noon meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Happy House restaurant.

Whether it's bringing cheer to a lonely patient, delivering flowers from loved ones or assisting friends and family to patient rooms, volunteers at Cox Monett Hospital have a lasting impact on patients. Positions are currently open at the information desk and gift shop. On-the-job training is provided. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. For more information, call 354-1404.

The Pierce City Central Elementary School Christmas program will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, in the Pierce City High School gymnasium.

The Purdy Recycling Project will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 so that students and volunteers can enjoy the holidays with their families. Regular business hours are changing for the winter months, closing at 6 p.m.
