A holiday season edition of Broadway Nights returns to downtown Monett on Friday, Dec. 14 with extended shopping hours and entertaining activities.
Ten downtown stores will participate in extended hour shopping, remaining open until 8 p.m. Stores will offer winter clothing inventory, festive gift ideas and some special sales.
A scavenger hunt is planned for shoppers. Participants will need a camera or a phone to take pictures. Registration will be held at The Monett Times office, 505 E. Broadway, where a clue sheet will be available. Cash prizes and gift certificates will be awarded.
Carolers will provide music. Additional performers will offer music of the season at Mocha Jo's and Denali Dreams.
Three authors will have their books available and be located in different businesses. Laura Valenti is the author of two historical novels based on the establishment of Bennett Springs. She is presently two novels into a series about a small town county sheriff in the Southwest.
Monett author Laurence Stoll will sign copies of his novel, "The Happy Accident."
Children's author Karla Lowe-Phelps, from Lebanon, will have copies of her two Bible-centered children's books, "Yama the Llama Off To Bethlehem" and "Yama the Llama Off to Jerusalem." Proceeds from Lowe-Phelps' books support the health, education and welfare of children in third world countries.
Also at one of the stores will be Bob Senninger, of Freistatt, with two compact discs displaying his talents as a singer/songwriter. Senninger's first CD offers love songs and his 2012 release, "Pop 'n Country," was produced in Nashville and has pop-flavored songs.
Broadway Nights is an opportunity for after-hours shopping and an old-fashioned night on the town. The event is offered quarterly on the second Friday of the month.
