The Mt. Pleasant Benefit Special Road District commissioners will meet on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Freistatt fire station. The public is invited to attend.

A Christmas musical, "Get to the Manger," will be presented by Monett Community Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 and at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16. The public is invited to come early on Saturday evening for a cookie social beginning at 6 p.m. The church is located at 2101 East Cleveland in Monett.

The Purdy R-2 School District will retire the jersey number for former student athlete Addy Roller in a ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, prior to the basketball game. The public is invited to attend.

The Monett Veterinary Hospital is conducting its 13th annual holiday toy drive through Dec. 13. New toys will be donated to the Barry County Office of Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) and distributed to children in need in time for the Christmas holiday. The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 at the Pleasant Ridge school house, located on Highway Z. For more information, call 236-4690.

The Danny Ledbetter family will perform at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14, 15 and 16 at the Longview Church, on Highway 37 at Highway HH, south of Purdy.

The Pierce City Central Elementary School Christmas program will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, in the Pierce City High School gymnasium.

A living nativity will be presented on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, at Countryside Christian Church, located at 1200 N. Eisenhower, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The drive-through event will feature three additional Biblical scenes on the church lawn.

Food service training workshops offered by the Lawrence County Health Department will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 9 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 21. Classes are held at the health department office in Mt. Vernon. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

Toys for Tots in Lawrence County is accepted donations of new unwrapped toys through Dec. 14 at businesses in Aurora, Marionville, Miller and Mt. Vernon. For drop-off information, call Tom Hanson at 417-440-1319.

The Lawrence County Health Department still has flu vaccine available for adults at a cost of $15. Vaccine for children from 6 months old to age 18. There is a $10 charge non non-county residents. Vaccines are offered at the department's office at 105 W. North St. in Mt. Vernon. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

The Southern Missouri Bee Keepers of Monett will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett. For more information, contact John Schmidt at 235-7726.
