MHS band has active year

The Monett High School band earned numerous honors during its fall marching band season.

The Cubs Marching Pride began its 2012-13 competition season at Webbstock in Webb City on Sept. 22. The band competed in a division based on school size, not band size. MHS placed fifth overall.

Valhalla at Springfield Parkview was held on Oct. 6 and Monett High School band placed fifth. The band competed in a division based on school size.

The competition in Reed Spring was held at the high school. MHS made the finals and finished fifth. The competition was based on band size.

The Festival of Champions was held in Warrensburg on Oct. 20. The Marching Pride made the finals and finished in the top 12 for the day. The results were based on band size.

All-District band auditions were held at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

The results were: Kara Hopkins, 10th chair flute; Emmy Mosier, 12th chair clarinet; Cristin Jones, 20th chair clarinet; Sarajean McCullough, third chair bass clarinet; Bekah Jones, second chair tenor saxophone; Aaron Morley, fifth chair trombone; Shane Solomon, third chair tuba; Kenny Mobley, first alternate baritone; and Michael Morley, second alternate trombone.

Results for All-District jazz band were: Kenny Mobley, bass trombone; Aaron Morley, first alternate trombone and Caleb Miller, first alternate bass guitar.
