Purdy High School basketball teams earned victories over College Heights and School of the Ozarks on Dec. 7.
The Eagles improved to 4-1 with a 46-40 victory over East Newton.
"East Newton did a great job defensively, and it was a struggle to score all game long," said Purdy coach Tommy Egan. "We played our best defensive game of the year in the half court, which was encouraging to see."
Purdy led 20-14 after one quarter of play and 27-20 at halftime. The Eagles also connected on 15 of their 18 free throw attempts in the contest.
Scoring for Purdy were: Brent Cornman, 14 points; Cameron Terry, 11; Austin Hancock, 6; Tyler Scott, 6; Keevin Walker, 5; and Alex Mareth and Glen Scott, 2 each.
The Lady Eagles (5-2) traveled to Point Lookout to capture a 62-5 win over the School of the Ozarks Lady Patriots.
Purdy jumped out to a 16-2 lead after the first period and led 38-2 at halftime.
"It was great to get to play on a college-size floor and to get some minutes for the bench," said Purdy coach Eli Ernst. "It's hard to develop a complete team when some players don't get as many chances to play. I am really encouraged with the improved play of Abby (Parsons). She is working hard both on and off the floor."
Scoring for the Lady Eagles were: Parsons, Jayse Henderson and Ashton Young, 8 points each; Billie House, 7; Desirie Ennes, Courtney White, Mattie White and Katie Hughes, 6 points apiece; Andrea Humphrey, 5; and Skylar Lakey, 2.
The Lady Eagles and Eagles host Wheaton on Dec. 13. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
