Two hurt in crashes

An Exeter woman was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Dec. 7 on Highway W in Wheaton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Macy Brattin, 16, of Exeter, pulled her 2000 Volkswagen Beetle onto Highway W, going north at 7:40 a.m. Her car pulled in front of an eastbound 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Chao Khang, 43, of Exeter, resulting in a collision.

Khang received minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital-Cassville for treatment. Brattin was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.

Other crashes

* A Stotts City man received serious injuries in a single vehicle crash at 6:50 p.m. on Dec. 6 on Highway 97, a half-mile south of Stotts City. Kenneth Shepard, 71, was driving north in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup when the truck ran off the roadway and struck several trees. Shepard, who was not wearing a safety belt, was transported to Cox Hospital South in Springfield for treatment.

* A Republic man received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 5:18 p.m. on Dec. 7 on Interstate 44, eight miles east of Mt. Vernon. Aaron Davied, 28, of Webb City, had to slow down and was struck in the rear by a 2007 Chevrolet HHR, driven by Lawrence Massey, 27, of Republic. Massey was transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Both were wearing seat belts.

* Two Aurora residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:55 p.m. on Dec. 7 on Highway 39, three miles south of Aurora. Aaron Williams, 16, of Aurora, was crossing Highway 39 in a 1999 Ford Escort and struck a northbound 1986 Chevrolet Camaro nearly head on. The Camaro, driven by Ethan Eden, 20, of Aurora, traveled off the right side of the roadway. Williams received moderate injuries and was taken to a Springfield hospital. A passenger in the Williams vehicle, Jerra Hayes, 18, of Aurora received moderate injures and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Eden was unhurt. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

* A Monett resident received minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 12:30 p.m. on Highway K, one mile north of Aurora. Patricia Garoutte, 55, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus. The vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a fence and a pole. She was transported to Mercy Hospital in Aurora. Garoutte was wearing a seat belt.
