Three churches join for Yule bell concert

Handbell choirs from three Lawrence County churches, including Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, joined for a joint Christmas concert at the First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon on Dec. 2.
Three churches joined together for a joint handbell concert in Mt. Vernon on Sunday, Dec. 2.

The Trinity Ringers, from Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, joined forces with the Disciple Bells from First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Grace Note Ringers from First United Methodist Church, both from Mt. Vernon

Lori Evatt was the conductor and also had a solo.

The ensembles began practicing for the concert in August. Their first joint rehearsal was last week.

Participating in the Trinity Ringers were: Allene Spree, Linda Erhardt, Nancy McRoberts, Betty Sawyer, Deborah Schoen, Elaine Greimman, Florene Towers, Dana Wormington, Nadine Obermann, Donna Freidrich, Reta Tracy and Susan Stark.

The First Christian Disciple Bells members were: Laura Batson, Stacey Morris, Susan Conaway, Loretta Thrasher, Sharon Bacon, Dietra henry, Lucinda Morris and Jaedyn Thrasher.

The Grace Note Ringers from the First United Methodist Church were: Joanne Weiss, Holly Marsh, Judy Kitchen, Esther perryman, Lynn McDonald and Lisa Hoskins.

Katherin and Vera McRoberts also played percussion.
