A total of 15 baskets, each with a different theme, are offered. Some of the items include books, teas, knit items, candles, kitchenware and other useful gifts.
The grand prize is a 30-minute flight over Lawrence County with pilot Les Fetherston.
"This is an annual fundraiser," said Tess Nichols, branch supervisor. "Each basket is unique and there is a little bit of everything."
The library is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Bidding will end at the close of business on Saturday, Dec. 15.
Proceeds benefit the Mt. Vernon Friends of the Library, which supports a number of programs, including Art in the Library, adult educational and interest programs, the summer reading program and other materials, resources and equipment.
