Welcome to the redesigned Monett Times. Today, we are launching a new look for your hometown newspaper.
The Monett Times has been serving as a prime news source for Barry and Lawrence counties since 1897, and while we are proud of the newspaper's heritage, we strive to remain relevant in a marketplace that is forever changing.
The purpose of this redesign is to create a more modern and a more readable newspaper for our valued customers. The content of the newspaper remains strong. We continue to be dedicated to providing our readers with timely, accurate and well-written news and sports articles as well as engaging feature stories and entertainment offerings.
In essence, a redesign is a repackaging of the way we present the news. For example, the lines used to divide stories and the new headline typefaces were chosen to make the newspaper easier to read. We also are relying more on the use of exceptional photography to help us tell our stories. Expect larger photos and more of them.
New page headers and a new masthead were created to give the newspaper a cleaner, more modern look, which illustrates The Monett Times' commitment to remaining up-to-date.
Toward this end, we are also working to make our website a vital part of our news product. Breaking news is now posted immediately online even before it makes it into our print edition. We are also adding value for our online readers by posting new photo galleries throughout the week and more online-only content.
For those of you who like to stay connected 24/7, The Monett Times is on Facebook and we have established a new Twitter account - @monetttimes. We'll alert you to breaking news stories and events as they happen through these social networking tools. You can also stay up-to-date on all the latest sports news by following our sports editor Jared Lankford on Twitter at @monettsports.
The new design of The Monett Times was created by graphic designer Christopher Vore with guidance from Co-Publishers Lisa and Mike Schlichtman and Editor Lisa Craft, and we are pleased with the finished product.
As always, we want feedback on the changes we've made. What do you like? What don't you like? What new features would you like to see in the newspaper and online? Please send your thoughts to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. And remember to visit us often at www.monett-times.com, like us on Facebook (Monett Times) and follow us on Twitter at @monett_times.
