   A lighter offering of long-weaned program calves and yearlings met good 
demand at Thursday's Special Value Added Sale.  Offerings mostly consisted of 
larger consignments of reputation feeders with Northern-like quality in 
Southern-like condition.  There was no recent value added sale for a comparison, 
but most weight groups of heavier calves saw top prices from 3.00-5.00 higher 
than Monday's regular sale and yearlings fully steady with Monday's yearling 
special.  It's unclear what premium buyers are willing to pay for source and age 
verification, but bidders were more than willing to push price levels for a 
guaranteed weaning and health program.  The Thursday sales wrapped-up a week of 
over 13,700 head moving through the ring at Joplin Regional Stockyards and near 
8000 offered through video marketing.  Supply included 59 percent steers and 41 
percent heifers, 51 percent over 600 lbs.
