The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office ticketed seven motorists for not wearing seat belts during the November "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Mis-souri participated in the statewide effort to get more motorists to buckle up and save more lives.
During the enforce-ment effort, officers issued a total of nine traffic cita-tions, which included seven seatbelt violations. Two citations were issued for other traffic violations.
A total of 56 warnings were issued for hazardous moving violations.
"Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly one in four Missouri motor-ists are still not making it click," said Lawrence County Sheriff Brad De-Lay. "Nearly seven out of 10 Missourians killed in traffic crashes are unbuck-led.
"Seat belts are the sin-gle best defense in a crash," DeLay continued. "We will continue to encourage driv-ers to make the smart, sim-ple choice to buckle up and arrive alive."
