Monett grad earns wrestling upset victory

Monett graduate Kyle Meyer earned the Standford Cardinal's lone victory in a duel against Missouri on Nov. 24.

A 2009 graduate of Monett High School, Meyer was a four-year letter winner in wrestling. He also earned three letters in football and one each in baseball and track. Meyer captained the Cubs' wrestling team for three years earning Big 8 All- Conference honors in all four sports.

Meyer dominated on the Missouri prep wrestling mat. He was a four-time district and state champion as well as four-year academic all-state winner, and helped the Cubs win a state wrestling championship in 2008.

Meyer was named a three-time NHSCA All-American, placing third as a senior in 2009 for the highest finish of his career. He ended his career tied for the most wins in a season and a career at MHS.

Meyer is the son of Gary and Nancy Meyer, of Monett
