A Christmas party for all military retirees in the Monett area will be held by the 117th Engineer Asphalt Team at noon on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Monett National Guard Armory. Those attending are asked to call 235-3140 so that adequate preparations can be made.

All former Jumping-Jacks employees and spouses are invited to meet at The Bayou, in Monett, at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 for an evening of memories and companionship.

Santa Claus will greet children from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Eagles Aerie #3948, located at 18896 Lawrence 2185, north of Aurora. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children age 10 and under. Cameras are welcome. Proceeds from games will benefit local charities.

A public workshop with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the master plan about the future of Table Rock Lake will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Shell Knob Elementary School. Highway 165/265 between Table Rock Lake's dam and spillway will be reduced to one lane weekdays beginning Monday, Nov. 26 and ending on Thursday, Jan 10, 2013 to repair and seal the road surface across the dam. The lane will be reopened at 4:30 p.m. each Friday and will close each Monday at 7 a.m. until the repairs are completed.

The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library will have a one-day Fine Amnesty Day on Tuesday, Dec. 18. This offer applies to new and existing fines, but does not apply to fees for lost or damaged materials. This will give our customers an opportunity to clear their accounts before January 1, 2013.

Berean Christian Academy in Monett will host a Live Nativity presented by students at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7. Other activities include hayrides, bonfire, and free hot drinks.

The Cassville Senior Center, located at 1111 Fair St., will host a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Roaring River Sound Band will play. Cover charge is $4 at the door. The center is located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville.

Judges are needed for a wide range of events in the 58th annual Priscilla Bradford Speech Tournament at Monett High School on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1. For more information, call 772-4275.

The office of Barry County Collector Janice Varner mailed out the 2012 tax statements on Monday, Nov. 5. The office advises taxpayers who have not received statements to contact the collector's office at 417-847-2113. Tax bills become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2013.

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wheaton High School, 116 McCall, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Aurora High School, located at 305 W. Prospect.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department is accepting the donation of old cell phones that can be used by victims without phones to call 911. Donors may keep their sim cards and delete all personal information before turning in phones. For more information, contact Kim Bishop-Jones at 417-466-2131.

Vision of Hope Narcotics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and thursdays at 2101 E. Cleveland in Monett.
