Margaret K. Underwood, age 67, of Monett, Mo., formerly of Joplin, Mo., passed from this life on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, while at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Margaret was born on June 19, 1945 in Springfield, Mo., daughter of the late Clarence J. Wuellner and Dorotha M. (Carl) Wuellner.
After graduating from Union High School, Margaret furthered her education at Crowder College and later at MSSC, receiving her bachelor of science degree. Through her working years, Margaret was a custodian, a substitute teacher for the Joplin School District and an animal caretaker. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. Margaret enjoyed Civil War reenactments, studying history and was an avid reader.
Surviving are one son, Andrew Underwood, and his wife, Holly, of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; one daughter, Julie Scott, and her husband Carl, of Fyffe, Ala.; one grandson, Carter Underwood; one brother, Larry Wuellner, and his wife, Susan, of Boston, Mass.; one sister, Georgeanna Wormington, and her husband Tom, of Monett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Underwood will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the Zion United Church of Christ near Freistatt, Mo. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery.
